Now some excellent work from Scott Gray KD6CQ

Scott reported "This is my first project using 'manhattan style' layout. Used the rectangular pads as described - no problem with that. Used sidecutters, sandpaper, and superglue. Didn't use a template, just 'eye-balled' everything into position. Works great!"

From the workbench of Jeff Grudin AC6KW we see how he has made the Sidekick into a transceiver with PIC keyer.

Roger Alexander KK7LK kindly sent in a photo of his completed Sidekick board. Click on the thumbnail to see an enlarged version. It's 158K so it may take some time if you are on 56k access. Roger has also kindly sent along a manhattan construction guide he wrote for the Mt. Baker Amateur Radio Club.

Below left.
Here's some great shots from Mike Schettler WA6MER
Mike writes.... "The case is a recycled Pactec case from a swap meet.
The recommended change in capacitors C20 and C21 is a Must for anyone
with a microphonic Sidekick. Mine went from a major problem to no
problem at all simply by changing C20 and C21 from ceramic to plastic
capacitors.
